music2017 Zuzka I discovered these songs during Advent, preparing for my CCD teaching lesson. Kids loved it, sang, danced, ... and learned about Bible stories. 7th graders: teens, but still kids. Great for multiple intelligence lesson plan preparation! Favorite track: Zechariah.

Seth Jones Its rare to find a christian artist so deep and contemplative that listening to it I feel Christ's love wash over me in a way that I am moved to tears every single time. You are in a rare league on a level with John Michale Talbot or the hymn writers of old and a style all your own. You may say these songs are for children but they help me approach Jesus with the faith of a child. Favorite track: The Weight of the World.

Isaiah 11 02:29
A green shoot will sprout up from Jesse The roots will grow a budding branch A wolf will dwell with a gentle lamb They'll leap and play in the green, green grass A little child will lead them A little child will lead them The lion and the lamb lie down together A little child will lead them A green shoot will sprout up from Jesse The roots will grow a budding branch A wolf will dwell with a gentle lamb They’ll leap and play in the green, green grass A little child will lead them A little child will lead them The lion and the lamb lie down together A little child will lead them [Read] On that day, Jesse's Root will be raised high, Posted as a rallying banner for the peoples The nations will all come to Him His headquarters will be glorious! [Isaiah 11:10 from The Message] A green shoot will sprout up from Jesse A banner of love like a melody Singing "Come back children, come back, hurry” Singing over you, singing over me The good, good King will lead them The good, good King will lead them The spirit of the Lord will rest upon Him The good, good King will lead us The good, good King will lead us The lion and the lamb lie down together The good, good King will lead us

When you write a letter to a friend And you don't when You'll hear back again Well, it's hard to wait It's hard to wait So hard to wait When the one you love Leaves on a plane And you know that she'll Come back someday It's hard to wait It's hard to wait So hard to wait There is gonna be a day Every low valley He will raise There is gonna be a day Hills and mountains gonna be made plain There is gonna be a day Winding roads gonna be made straight Comfort, comfort, comfort, comfort It's hard to wait So hard to wait When you plant a seed In the garden bed But you don't see green Growing up just yet Oh, it's hard to wait It's hard to wait Comfort, comfort, comfort, comfort It's hard to wait So hard to wait There’s gonna be a day But it's hard to wait Tag: There is gonna be a day Every low valley He will raise There is gonna be a day Hills and mountains gonna be made plain There is gonna be a day…

My shoulders are narrow My body is weak I haven’t got any good words to speak My heart often falters My footing’s unsure Under the weight of the world The weight of the world The weight of the world Under the weight of the world This is no load for one person to bear Just one is able, just one anywhere I’ll take it all to King Jesus in prayer He’s strong for the weight of the world The weight of the world The weight of the world He’s strong for the weight of the world I am not able for all of my cares Even my winnings are more than I’ll bear I’ll take it all to King Jesus in prayer He’s strong for the weight of the world The weight of the world The weight of the world He’s strong for the weight of the world The fabric of faith is too strong to tear Woven by Christ, the saints daily will wear A surety that Jesus, so strong and so fair Has carried the weight of the world The weight of the world The weight of the world He’s carried the weight of the world He’s carried the weight of the world

Zechariah 03:23
Zechariah went into the temple And an angel of the Lord was waiting there He said, "You've waited your whole life Good news, you and your wife will have a son named John, the Lord has heard your prayer." Zechariah was afraid and started talking He said, "How can this be? How will I know?" Gabriel said, "God gave this special task to me, and since you ask, here's a sign for you until he’s born to show..." And Zechariah said,“...” Then he couldn’t say… But his heart went…{‘cause he couldn’t speak} Then he tried to say… But he couldn’t say… But his heart went boom, boom, boom! Zechariah walked out of the temple And they knew something had happened there inside He tried to tell the story, but it wouldn't come out right Stayed inside his heart, but couldn't be denied And Zechariah said “... , ...grrr…” But his heart went…{‘cause he couldn’t talk anymore} And he tried to say “mmm...ah…” But his heart went pitter-patter, pitter-patter, boom! The time came and Jesus had a cousin This baby boy that Gabriel foretold Everyone was glad, they thought they'd name him like his dad but Zechariah knew better and he wrote: "His name is John!" And he said, "Blessed be the Lord our God of Israel My son John will get our ears ready to hear That our Father will forgive us; His Son's come to live with us The redeemer that we've waited for is here." The redeemer that we’ve waited for is here

Magnificat 03:11
My soul magnifies the Lord My spirit rejoices in God My soul magnifies the Lord My spirit rejoices in God For He who is mighty Has done great things for me Holy holy Holy holy Holy holy Is His name [Read] His mercy flows in wave after wave On those who are in awe before Him He embraced his chosen child, Israel He remembered and piled on the mercies, He piled them high! It’s exactly what He promised Beginning with Abraham and right up to now. (Luke 1:50, 54-55 from The Message) My soul magnifies the Lord My spirit rejoices in God My soul magnifies the Lord My spirit rejoices in God For He who is mighty Has done great things for me Holy holy Holy holy Holy holy Is His name

There's gonna be a great rejoicing There's gonna be a great rejoicing The troubles of this world Will wither up and die That river of tears made by the lonely Someday will be dry There's gonna be a great rejoicing There's gonna be a great joy river There's gonna be a great joy river Questions of this world Someday will be known Who's robbing you of peace And who's the giver There's gonna be a great joy river Someday you will find me Guarded in His fortress Open heart and wings That never touch the ground Someday we will gather In a grand reunion Debts of this old world Are nowhere to be found Nowhere to be found There's gonna be a great rejoicing There's gonna be a great rejoicing There’s gonna be a great joy river There's gonna be a great rejoicing There’s gonna be a great rejoicing

Come, thou long expected Jesus Born to set thy people free From our fears and sins release us Let us find our rest in Thee Israel's strength and consolation Hope of all the earth thou art Dear desire of every nation Joy of every longing heart Born Thy people to deliver Born a child and yet a King Born to reign in us forever Now Thy gracious kingdom bring By Thine own eternal Spirit Rule in all our hearts alone By Thine all sufficient merit Raise us to Thy glorious throne We are waiting We are waiting We are waiting for You. (Hallelujah, what a Savior!) By Thine own eternal Spirit Rule in all our hearts alone By Thine all sufficient merit Raise us to Thy glorious throne We are waiting We are waiting We are waiting for You.

about

Waiting Songs is an album of Advent. These songs are about making time for waiting. The King is coming and He is already here. So we practice listening, quieting ourselves, celebrating, whispering good news, and yelling shouts of joy. In the Rain for Roots family, we practice most of all by singing to ourselves, to each other, and to our children about true things. He is coming -- the Joy of Every Longing Heart. Our longing hearts. Grown ups and children; we are the same in this. Through these songs, may God call us closer into conversation with Himself while we wait and hope with expectation. He comes to make His blessings flow far as the curse is found.
